Filyakova V.I. graduated from the chemical-engineering department of Ural polytechnical institute (now Ural Federal University). In 1984 she defended PhD thesis on the theme: “Synthesis and the properties of the isomeric fluorine-containing b-aminovinylketones”. In 1999 Filyakova V.I. defended Doctor of chemical sciences thesis: “New polyfunctional fluorine-containing synthones: the methods of obtaining and synthetic possibilities”

 

Her scientific interests include development of the methods of synthesis, a study of competitory reactivity, the establishment of structure, a study of properties and the search for the areas of the practical application of the polyfunctional fluorine-containing compounds.

 

Filyakova V.I. with the co-authors have introduced into the practice of organic synthesis new chemically versatile fluorine-containing synthones: lithium enolates of b-diketones and of b-ketoesters.

 

The effective methods of obtaining the fluoroalkyl-containing mono-, bi- and polynuclear chelate complexes with the ions of transition metals, polyfunctional acyclic and heterocyclic compounds, including the linear and annelated systems of the cycles of different nature (derivatives of pyrazole, isoxazole, pyridine, pyrimidine, quinoline, 1,5-diazepine, phenanthridine, coumarine, the 1,8-naphthyridine, pyrazolo- and of triazolopyrimidine, triazolopyridazine, triazolocinnoline, imidazopyrimidine, imidazoquinazoline, furopyrazine) have been developed on their basis.

 

The distinctive features of the reactions of the 4-substituted thiosemicarbazides with fluorinated carboxylic acids and their ethers have been established (in comparison with the reactions  of the nonfluorinated analogs). The methods of the directed introduction of fluoroalkyl- and heteryl fragments into different positions of traizole and tiadiazole cycles have been developed. The new unusual reactions of fluoroalkyl-containing b-diketones, b-aminovinylketones, b-hydroxyketones, lithium enolates of b-diketones and b-ketoether have been found; in effect, the chemistry of fluoroalkyl-containing b-hydroxyketones has been actually created.
